  9.  AB    The forecast for AIDS infection in India requires intensive program for
  10.        education against STD infections. The need is much more in sexually
  11.        tolerant societies such as Jaunsar Bawar area in the Sub Himalayan
  12.        region of India. (see map). The paper deals with educational approach
  13.        without reference to the morality of sexual practices in the area. The
  14.        work carried out so far comprises of a socio cultural profile of the
  15.        region and preliminary discussions with the local leaders about the
  16.        danger of AIDS infection in their community. The proposal for funding
  17.        the program has been sent to the Minister of Health, Government of
  18.        India. In the meantime leaders active in the community have been
  19.        contacted for developing the action oriented program in select villages.
  20.        The Jaunsar Bawar community is known to be liberal in their sexual
  21.        practices and hence a victim of most of the STD infections. The findings
  22.        from the community will be used to develop task & community based
  23.        training program.
